Hillsborough Scout Group and Hillsborough Squirrel Drey take the Health and Safety of all our members very seriously hence have been monitoring the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
The group will continue to follow advice from the Public Health Agency (PHA) and implement it accordingly. We would also like to remind parents and leaders that if someone is unwell, for whatever reason, they should stay away and inform the section leader that they will not be attending.
We would further ask that if someone in your family is showing symptoms of Covid-19 and essentially if they have a positive diagnosis that you immediately advise Anne Thompson (Group Chair) on 07740 675338, or Catherine Rogers (Group Secretary) on 07709 793641, of the situation, so that appropriate steps can be taken to safeguard other members.
We would encourage parents not to panic, but to make informed decisions for the well-being of their own family.
As a result of discussion in the groups executive, for the moment, it was decided to put out the above advice and to confirm that all sections WILL continue to meet until one of the following: –
- The PHA advise Schools to close. – The group have always operated a policy of “when schools are on, so are scouts.”
- The PHA advice is for youth groups such as scouts not to meet.
- Scout Association Headquarters advise scout groups not to meet.
- We are informed of a positive diagnosis within the families involved in the group, at which point we will advise all members and families through the usual channels and take advice from the PHA on suspending meetings for a section or the whole group.
